Top 5: Easter NYC

Easter Sunday in NYC is more colourful, festive and joyous than one could imagine, but of course New York doesn’t do anything by halves.

1) Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival

Would it be a holiday if there wasn’t a parade down fifth avenue? Hundreds of the city's well-dressed hit the streets from 10am sporting their carefully constructed and utterly astounding bonnets. An elaborate Medusa head and extravagant monsters were just some of this year's bonnet highlights.

Starting in the 1800s the Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival is a centuries old tradition that marks Easter Sunday in a very special way. With the sun shining and music booming the friendly and celebratory atmosphere makes for a beautiful easter morning.

2) Chocolate at Max Brenner

It wouldn’t be easter without a little chocolate and The Max Brenner Chocolate Bar offers some of the tastiest delights in the city. Purchase a little something from the shop or pull up a seat and tuck into a slice of their chocolate pizza.

3) Macy’s Flower Show

For over 40 years Macy’s has put on a stunning flower show, known as art in bloom, to showcase some of the world’s most exotic flowers inside its department store. Shoppers are wowed by the colour and creativity that add to epic flower based constructions.

4) Easter Brunch

NYC loves a brunch and easter is another excuse to tuck into a hearty meal and throw down the mimosas. Hundreds of restaurants offer great deals with bottomless beverages and, this easter, Penelope’s was a hotspot for me. This comfy cafe on Lexington has a southern style and makes you feel at home while you nosh down their famous Nutella French Toast.

5) NYC Pillow Fight

To mark International Pillow Fight Day, NYC takes on the activity in Washington Square Park. Hundreds of pillow bearers swing and swoosh at each other as soon as the klaxon sounds. It's a bizarre phenomena that provides more than a few giggles.
