Easter Brunch: Penelope

New York loves a brunch. While to a Brit the idea of brunch might be a full english at around 12 o’ clock, here it means a slap up meal with a stream of mimosas to accompany it. No matter if it's 11am or 3pm you can brunch and munch the afternoon away.
Easter Sunday is just another excuse to hit up a favourite restaurant, eat til your bust and then chug down some cocktails for good measure. Happy Easter right?
Penelope was the perfect place to do this. On Lexington and 30th, Penelope takes on a country farm feel, with picket fences and checkered awnings, taking you out of the city to the south. It is a cafe meets bar meets bakery that offers some tasty lunchtime treats that utterly spoil you for choice.
After 20 minutes of pouring over the menu I went for an in-house favourite: the Nutella French toast.
“Brioche french toast filled with warm chocolate hazelnut filling, dusted with powdered sugar, served with caramelized bananas.”
Easing my guilt with the excuse of easter, I devoured every bit but, if the chocolate take down is just too much, the menu features an assortment of eggs, sandwiches and brunch burgers all perfect for filling up mid afternoon.
The juices are freshly squeezed, the pomegranate bellinis delicious and the service as warm as the welcome. While it can be a bit of a wait, a Penelope brunch is worth it.
