BEX and the CITY

Spotted: which celebs?

In a city like New York, celebrity sitings are inevitable. The city’s old-timers all say they’re used to it and play it cool when they casually drop in Stevie Wonder’s name, but I still find it hard to believe they aren’t starstruck, astounded and go full on geek in the presence of an A-list celeb.
I certainly do not possess that level of coolness and can’t imagine ever developing the inability to act all nonchalant when crossing paths with Jennifer Lopez. So far I’ve managed to stare wide-eyed, creepily follow and slyly take pictures of the stars I have seen.
First siting:
This would be Audrina Patridge in the nightclub Catch, located in the Meatpacking District. She sat in the corner and sipped away wearing jeans and a casual T-shirt. This seemed extremely unfair as the rest of the attendees were subjected to the formal dress requirements of a typical NYC top nightclub. She did pull off her fedora pretty well though.
Second:
Next was James Spader filming The Blacklist, once again in Chelsea. The area was swarming with extras practicing a perfectly timed scene, which the film crew had no problem letting passersby watch. Spader himself casually walked on and off set to his trailer with no security and even shot his fans a wee wave.
Third:
My next celeb spot was one of the biggest to date. Mark Wahlberg was seen filming Ted 2 outside the New York Public Library. Sporting a serious amount make-up, he remained focused as a crowd formed. Despite the throngs of people between us, I swear we had eye contact - my moment with Mark.
Fourth:
This one is for the Gossip Girl fans. Penn Badgley, sporting what looked like hiking boots and a wooly hat, walked right by during November’s racial protests. He was getting stuck in to the good cause taking photos and throwing himself into the throngs of protestors. XOXO.
Fifth:
The latest siting, and again another pretty big one, was of Jennifer Lopez. This was less of a siting though and more of a scheduled stake out to see the celeb on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. In January she was a guest on his show and I was lucky enough to get a seat in the audience. Only metres away, Jenny from the Block battled against Anthony Mackie in a game of Charades after promoting her new movie The Boy Next Door.
