Jake's Dilemma

Calling out to all beer pong fans, this one is for you.

Sitting off an Upper West Side block on 40 Amsterdam Ave is Jake’s Dilemma. Student union meets old English pub, Jake’s is a cosy hang out with all the tools needed to perfect the all-American game of beer pong. It’s a bar free of tourists where Colombia post-grads and ever-so-cool locals can leave pleasantries at the door in order to commence battle across the pong tables.

Cosy and warm with leather arm chairs and stacked library shelves, Jake’s could be confused for a 1920s old whisky and cigar men’s club, that is if it wasn’t for the odd splash out of beer and enthusiastic jeering coming from the pong zone.

Argue your way for a spot in the queue, finger point at the queue jumpers and eventually coming out bottles blazing ready to challenge the glasses-wearing, nose-scrunching, high trouser-wearing technology majors. (Yes, I used every cliche in the book there).

It’s not just the pong that’s a pull. This ideal after-work joint has over 50 bottle beers and 14 pints on draft so for beer loves it’s a must.
